Girl Waits with Gun by Amy Stewart

The strength of this book lies with the characterization of Miss Constance Kopp and her younger sisters but the 1914 setting, the mildly suspenseful plot, and the wry humor combine to make Amy Stewart’s novel an engaging and wholly entertaining read about an impressive woman who took on a shady, potentially mob-connected businessman and stood her ground.  The story is based on the real Constance Kopp who became one of the first female crime fighters in the U.S. The author appends information regarding which details are historically accurate and which are not.
