I Let You Go by Clare Mackintosh

A 5-year-old boy is struck and killed in a hit-and-run.  Detective Inspector Ray Stevens of the Bristol police puts his team on the case.  Kate, new to the Criminal Investigation Department, is already proving to be smart and dedicated to the job.  With few leads, however, the investigation is going to be difficult.   The accident that took little Jacob’s life continues to haunt Jenna Gray, even after she leaves her home and takes up residence in a remote cottage on the beautiful but harsh Welsh coast, hoping to recover from her child’s death and the rest of her painful past.

Clare Mackintosh employs flashbacks, crucial points of view, and vivid writing to create a story that brilliantly builds suspense and maintains a menacing tone.

Highly recommended for fans of psychological suspense with clever plot construction.  Some graphic violence; light profanity.
